Grand Hyatt Kauai Hotel Welcomes New General Manager, Keith Butz
Keith Butz takes the helm at Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa
POIPU, KAUAI, Hawaii – May 9, 2014 – Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa welcomes a new leader as Keith Butz takes over as General Manager. Butz (pronounced boots) assumes the role from Jerry Westenhaver who held the position for the past 9 months, as Westenhaver returns to Oahu with his wife Lea.
Butz has been with Hyatt for 21 years holding positions ranging from a trainee in New Orleans in 1993 to his first General Manager position at Hyatt Regency Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco in 2005. Along the way and since he has held positions in Chicago, Huntington Beach, San Diego and at other Hyatt’s in San Francisco. Butz was greeted with a warm welcome, Hawaiian-style, as the resort’s Hawaiian protocol committee announced his arrival with the blowing of a conch shell followed by a welcome chant. Though his official start date has not been set, Butz will get his feet wet here over the next week and is expected to return in early June to take the helm.
“I am honored and excited to join the team at Grand Hyatt Kauai, it is a premier Hyatt resort in a beautiful location. My wife, Amanda, and I look forward to settling into the community and enjoying life on Kauai for a long time,” stated Butz. His wife Amanda will most likely make the move late summer when their Boxer has finished all the testing needed to enter the state without having to stay in quarantine.
